Biography

Travis Montorius Greene was born on January 17, 1984, in Dover, Delaware. He grew up with his mother, Charleather Greene, in Warner Robins, Georgia. Unfortunately, in 1989, Travis lost his father to an aneurysm. Despite facing challenges, Travis considers his life a miracle because he was born still but came back to life. At the age of 4, he survived a fall from a four-story building.

The musician has two sisters named Kim and Shalonda.

Family Life

Pastor Travis is married to Dr. Jackie Gamfi Greene, who is also his co-pastor at the Forward City Church. His wife is from Ghana and is a trained dentist. They met in 2007 when she was a first-year student at Georgia Southern University, and he had just graduated. At that time, he often visited to support the campus ministry.

Together, Travis and his wife have three sons. The oldest, David Jace Greene, was born in 2014. Their other children are Travis Joshua and Judah.

Career

On December 4, 2007, Greenelight Records released “The More,” marking the start of Travis Greene’s music career. His next studio album, “Stretching Out,” was released on June 8 by Pendulum Records.

With “Stretching Out,” Greene made his debut on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart, reaching number 27. Songs like “Still Here” and “Prove My Love” reached numbers 17 and 29 on the Billboard Top Gospel Songs chart.

On August 21, 2015, Greene and RCA Inspiration released an EP called “Intentional,” which debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart. The single “Intentional” from the EP peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Gospel Songs list.

His second studio album, “The Hill,” was released on October 30, 2015, from RCA Inspiration and reached No. 1 on the Billboard Gospel charts.

Greene’s success in the gospel genre has been featured in Billboard Magazine, Rolling Out Magazine, Jet magazine, and he has performed at events like the Essence Music Festival, Trumpet Awards, and BMI Trailblazers. In 2016, JET Magazine referred to Greene as “The Future of Gospel.”

In 2017, Greene faced criticism for performing at President Donald Trump’s inaugural ball. On February 2, 2017, he recorded his third album, “Crossover: Live From Music City,” in Nashville, Tennessee.

At the 2017 Stellar Gospel Music Awards on March 24, Greene won seven trophies, standing out among other nominees. He, along with Gospel recording artists Israel Houghton, Jonathan McReynolds, and Jonathan Butler, performed a medley of “Made a Way” at the ceremony.
