Clayton King is an American pastor, evangelist, professor, and author. He serves as the senior pastor of Newspring Church in South Carolina.
Biography
Clayton King was born in 1972 to a teenage mother who wasn’t ready for motherhood. He was adopted by a Southern Baptist couple, Joe and Jane, who raised him on a farm in rural South Carolina.
Even though he had a Christian background, with Southern Baptist parents and a Pentecostal grandfather, and attended a Presbyterian Christian school, Clayton didn’t become a Christian until he was fourteen. It was the influence of his parents and the testimony of a former drug dealer at his school that eventually led him to faith in Christ. He started preaching at the age of 15.
Today, Clayton King is the senior pastor of Newspring Church in South Carolina and the founder of Clayton King Ministries.

King was born in 1972.
Education
King graduated from Hillcrest High in Simpsonville. In 1988, he initiated a Christian group called the Solid Rock Club. In 1995, he was named the Outstanding Male Graduate of the Year at Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Ministry and Literature. He also graduated from the Billy Graham Emerging Evangelist Institute.
Furthermore, in 2012, Anderson University honored him with an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities for his service and dedication to the Kingdom of God.
In 2015, North Greenville University also awarded him an Honorary Doctorate of Humanities.
Family Life
King is married to Sharie, and they have two boys, Joseph and Jacob. The family lives in Anderson, South Carolina.
Ministries
King began preaching at the age of 15, delivering messages at schools, prisons, and youth groups. In 1991, he started Clayton King Ministries and Crossroads Worldwide, a youth organization partnering with churches to offer youth mission opportunities.
In the year 2000, he became the teaching pastor at Newspring Church. Additionally, since 2005, he has served as the campus pastor at Liberty University, preaching at the University’s convocation and Spiritual Emphasis Week.
For nearly three decades, Clayton King Ministries has organized conferences, internships, camps, and international missions in over 42 states in the United States and more than 40 countries.
The ministry relocated from Gardner-Webb to Anderson University, where King holds the position of distinguished professor of evangelism.
Since 2011, King has been the headmaster of Broad River Christian School, a homeschool he opened for his sons, Joseph and Jacob.
Books
